The Randolph, MA-based company produces and markets paper preservation materials like Mylar bags and acid-free backing boards to collectors of ephemera such as comic books, baseball cards and movie posters, as well as keepers of rare documents such as the National Archives.
In the past, print advertising and paper catalogs were the firm’s main lead generators. But the Internet has gradually moved into the forefront, generating 50% of Bill Cole Enterprises’ sales in December. About 90% of the company’s business comes from comic book collectors, says president Bill Cole. The remainder are collectors of anything paper, ranging from money and documents to postcards and magazines.
