MATTEL: will launch a line of Barbie clothes and accessories for women later this year. The line debuted in Japan last spring.

THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION: has closed its investigation into the proposed $2.6 billion merger of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Holdings, Inc. and British American Tobacco PLC’s U.S. subsidiary Brown & Williamson. It has notified the parties that the merger can go through.

VELOCITY SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT: Wilton, CT, has hired Ron Tumpowsky as a manager to work on the Home Depot account. He will focus on the Home Depot’s Athens Olympics program. Most recently, Tumpowsky was the manager of corporate partnerships at the Arena Football League.
