Hasbro, Inc. is celebrating Mr. Potato Head’s 50th birthday with a national sweepstakes and a mobile tour that brings the party to Wal-Mart stores. A 50 Years of Smiles sweeps runs through Nov. 4 asking consumers to submit photos of themselves with Mr. Potato Head. One grand-prize winner scores $25,000, while 10 runners-up receive $200 toy packages. (Hasbro will also make a donation to kids charity Operation Smile as part of the effort.) Pawtucket, RI-based Hasbro’s activities also feature a Spud-Mobile unit making stops at Wal-Mart locations through November. Wal-Mart shoppers can visit a Mr. Potato kiosk, sign a birthday card, and have their picture taken with a live Mr. Potato Head.
