More Than 10 Billion Videos Viewed on Google Sites in August

According to a recent report released by comScore, a record number of online videos were viewed in August as Google Sites accounted for nearly 40 percent of them.

In August, 25.4 billion videos were viewed online in the U.S., a new all-time high, according to comScore. There were 161.1 million unique viewers.

Google Sites remained the top-ranked online video content property with 10.1 billion videos viewed, or 39.6 percent of the total.

Microsoft Sites was second with 546.5 million videos viewed in August, or 2.2 percent of the total.

Viacom Digital was third with 539.5 million videos viewed, or 2.1 percent of the total, followed by Hulu with 488.3 million videos viewed, or 1.9 percent of the total in August.

Fox Interactive Media (380.1 million, 1.5 percent), Yahoo! Sites (355.2 million, 1.4 percent), Turner Network (299.0 million, 1.2 percent), CBS Interactive (169.0 million, 0.7 percent), Disney Online (162.9 million, 0.6 percent) and AOL LLC (156.9 million, 0.6 percent) rounded out the list of the top 10 U.S. online video content properties.

In terms of unique viewers, Google Sites led the way with 121.4 million viewers, with each watching an average of 82.8 videos during the month.

Microsoft Sites followed with 54.9 million viewers who watched an average of 10.0 videos each, while Yahoo! Sites had 51.6 million viewers who watched an average of 6.9 videos each during August.

Fox Interactive Media boasted 48.9 million viewers who watched an average of 7.8 videos each during the month, followed by Viacom Digital with 42.4 million viewers who watched 12.7 videos each.

Hulu was sixth with 38.5 million viewers who watched an average of 12.7 videos each, CBS Interactive was seventh with 35.7 million viewers who watched 4.7 videos each.

Turner Network (28.2 million viewers, 10.6 videos each), AOL LLC (28.1 million viewers, 5.6 videos each) and Facebook.com (24.2 million viewers, 4.1 videos each) rounded out the top 10.

Overall, an average of 157.4 videos were watched per viewer in August.

Tremor Media was the top U.S. online video ad network by potential unique viewers with 68.0 million viewers, or 42.2 percent of the total.

YuMe Video Network was second with 59.1 million viewers, or 36.7 percent of the total, while ScanScout Network was third with 57.6 million viewers, or 35.7 percent of the total.

ComScore also noted that 81.6 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience watched online videos in August, with the average viewer watching 9.7 hours of online video during the month.

The average online video was 3.7 minutes in length.
