CVS Corp. reported total sales of $3.5 billion for the five weeks ended July 2, up 31.4% from $2.7 billion last year.
Management of the pharmacy retailer said this increase includes the impact of CVS’s acquisition Eckerd drugstores’ mail order pharmacy business, 1,268 stores and pharmacy benefit management unit.
The Woonsocket, RI firm said total pharmacy sales represented 70% of total company sales in June.
Last year, Penney sold the mail order unit of its Eckerd drugstores unit to CVS Corp. and the remainder of Eckerd to Canadian firm Jean Coutu Group Inc. for a total of $4.53 billion (Direct Newsline, June 1, 2004).
