Miller Lite Auctions Ex-NFLers for Game Parties

Miller Lite is enabling football fans to bid in a charity auction for a chance to have two ex-National Football League stars at their house for a game this season.

For the third straight season fans can vie for the company of the players representing opposing teams in each particular match-up. The charity auction is open to U.S. residents—formerly it was regional—with weeklong auctions preceding each contest at Ebay.com/MillerLite.

Proceeds of the auction are contributed to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Last year, Miller Lite raised $45,000 for the organization, drawing 14,000 visitors to the eBay site and an average 50 bids per auction, according to a spokesman for Miller Lite.

All auction winners also receive round-trip airfare for two to Las Vegas for the annual Miller Lite Super Party in February 2008. A three-night stay at Bally’s Hotel and Casino and $250 spending cash on a Miller Lite debit card are also part of the deal.

The players provide the refreshments for the six game day parties scheduled between Sept. 16 and Dec. 9 at the respective winners’ homes, where they’ll also kibitz with fans and sign autographs.

Miller Lite’s stellar roster of former players includes Marcus Allen (Raiders), Terrel Davis (Broncos), Jim McMahon (Bears), Antonio Freeman (Packers), Drew Bledsoe (Patriots), Mark Clayton (Dolphins), Kellen Winslow (Chargers), John Randle (Vikings), Joe Theisman (Redskins), Tony Dorsett (Dallas), Lawrence Taylor (Giants) and Keith Byars (Eagles).

“It’s the strongest lineup we’ve had yet,” said the Miller spokesman.

The program was conceived and executed by Dig Communications.
