MemberWorks Inc., a Stamford, CT-based telemarketing company, has laid off 225 employees, 15% of its workforce.
The company said the job cuts, which included the shuttering of its U.K. operations, will save it about $9 million a year, according to news reports. But MemberWorks still expects to lose as much as $8 because of the weakened economy.
The firm expects to post fiscal first-quarter earnings per share of 3 cents to 5 cents.
