Matt Shirtcliffe, creative director of AIM Proximity and Alan Rosenspan, president of Alan Rosenspan & Associates, will be honored at the 28th Annual John Caples International Awards ceremony. The ceremony will be held March 2.
Shirtcliffe will receive the Irving Wunderman Awards for lifetime creative achievement, which was named for the legendary copywriter. The award is presented by the Caples Board to an individual who, for at least a decade, has combined talent, imagination, curiosity and human insight into his or her creative work.
Alan Rosenspan will be given the Andi Emerson Awards for Lifetime Achievement and Service to the Direct Marketing Creative Community. The award, which is named for the founder of the John Caples International Awards, is presented to an individual who has contributed outstanding service to the direct marketing creative community.
Shirtcliffe, who lives in Auckland, New Zealand began his career in 1990, when he worked in the marketing department of Colgate Palmolive. In 1993, he joined Colenso (which later became Clemenger BBDO) in Wellington. Although he began there as a media planner, in 1995 he was given a copywriter position. He joined AIM Direct (now AIM Proximity) in 1999 as creative director.
Shirtcliffe runs a mentoring program for graduates wishing to enter the industry. Five of his charges have gained full-time work in creative marketing fields. He also is a regular guest lecturer at the Graduate Diploma of Advertising Creativity, as well as the Marketing Association
