Fingerhut Cos., Inc., Minnetonka, MN, and Cambridge, MA-based Torrent Systems shared the fourth annual NCDM Excellence Award yesterday during the final day of the National Center for Database Marketing Conference here.
In presenting the award, Robert McKim, president of M\S Database marketing and recipient of last year’s award noted that Fingerhut’s annual expenditures on consumer marketing exceeded $600 million, and that the company’s database housed information on more than seven million consumers, with more than 1900 pieces of information on each.
Torrent’s Orchestrate product provided the backbone for Fingerhut’s Mail Stream Optimization program. Under Mail Stream Optimization, Fingerhut was reportedly able to process trillions of data combinations necessary for its database marketing driven campaigns. According to McKim, Orchestrate cut processing time for results from 20 days to 12 hours.
Fingerhut was featured as a Market Leader in DIRECT magazine’s Oct. 1 issue. Highlights of the campaign will be exhibited at the NCDM Summer 2000 Conference in Las Vegas.
