Live From Chicago: ECHO Awards

CP Comunicacion Proximity’s “It’s a Crime” took top honors in the DMA’s International ECHO Awards, presented last night at the 84th DMA Annual Conference & Exhibition.

The Barcelona, Spain-based agency won the Diamond ECHO for the campaign, created for its client Sony Espana, also of Barcelona.

Efforts for nonprofits took two of the top awards. The USPS Gold Mailbox Award, for the campaign with the most innovative use of direct mail, went to Russ Reid Company, Pasadena, CA, for its “Thanksgiving Dinner Bag” mailing created for the Denver Rescue Mission. McCann Relationship Marketing, New York, received the Henry Hoke Award for a multimedia/integrated media campaign to launch the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

The ibm.com ECHO Digital Award for the campaign that uses new technology in a truly creative way went to Digital Impact, San Mateo, CA for its abandoned shopping cart program for Reflect. com. Rodgers Townsend, St. Louis, was the recipient of the Vertis Millennium Award for the most innovative use of print material for the Southwestern Bell “X-Ray Local Telephone Service” campaign.

FCBi, Chicago, won the Royal Mail Millennium Award for best multimedia/integrated media effort for the John Deere “Solid” campaign.

Sixty-three companies and their DM agencies were honored in this year’s ECHO Awards; 17 Gold, 26 Silver and 20 Bronze Echoes were given for campaigns from 12 countries. The winning campaigns were drawn from a field of 1,122 entries in 12 categories. For the first time, the total number of international entries (571) outpaced total domestic entries (551).
