List Day Merged With DM Days NY
By Jim Emerson

Hoping to increase attendance, the Direct Marketing Association has merged List Day (some years called List Vision) and two other small conferences with DM Days New York, set this year for June 10-12.

List Day, International Day and the Hispanic marketing event Directo Day will no longer be scheduled as solo events. This move follows a recent decision by the association to reorganize its special interest councils, putting them under the control of DMA appointed advisory committees, instead of allowing council members to self-select operating committee officers, as had been past practice.

Details concerning exactly how the smaller conferences will be repositioned and possible name changes are still pending, but the DMA is expected to make a formal announcement sometime in February.

“Right now I don’t have the information on the keynote speakers and special events (for the conferences being folded into DMDNY) because it’s all still being put together,” said Doug Berger, DMA director of member communications.

Registration for DMDNY and special sessions for list professionals, international marketing and Hispanic marketing will be handled separately. Two tracks of sessions are planned on list-related topics with one set for beginners and another for more advanced list professionals, in keeping with past List Day practices.

“This will be a benefit for to DMDNY attendees,” added Berger. “It’s a way of making the whole conference more reflective of the greater community, all its facets and channels.”
