NRL Direct to Merge Into Specialists Marketing
Specialists Marketing Services Inc. (SMS) has acquired the list management and brokerage firm NRL Direct Inc. for undisclosed terms.

NRL will be merged into Specialists and employees of North Brunswick, NJ-based NRL will be transferred to SMS’ headquarters in Weehawken, NJ.

The acquisition significantly expands SMS’ presence in the catalog and publishing markets, as NRL has more than 40 list brokerage and management clients. Look also for SMS to release about 30 data cards for new e-mail lists and introduce new list modeling services.

NRL’s clients include Aspen Publishers, CCH, Comfort Corner, Disc Makers, Drs. Foster and Smith, Fabulous Furs, Frontgate, Herrington, Improvements, Jamesco Manufacturing, Johnston and Murphy, Lifeline Screen and the Weider History Group.

Karen Goldfarb has joined Interactive Marketing Solutions as vice president of sales. Goldfarb’s responsibilities will include overseeing expanded services, including lead generation, search engine marketing and building databases. Goldfarb will also lead the firm’s list management and brokerage divisions. She was formerly with Traffix Inc.

Justin Denhard has been promoted to vice president of MeritDirect. He’ll continue working from the Evanston, IL, with such clients as Oriental Trading, Barco, Reliable, Headsets.com and MarketLab. Denhard has been MeritDirect since it was founded in 2000.
