Lions Gate, the independent production and distribution studio, has given itself a new name and logo in an effort to rebrand the company, calling itself Lionsgate.
The merger of the former Lions Gate name into one word is meant to show the unification of the company’s motion picture, TV, home entertainment, family entertainment, documentary film, music publishing and video-on-demand business into a single brand, according to the company.
With the new name, Lionsgate rolled out a new logo that depicts images of turning wheels and a metal gate, which reveals the name “Lionsgate” against a sunny sky.
“The Lionsgate brand has become recognized throughout the financial and creative communities for distinctive, original product,” Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement. “Our new name and logo are designed to build upon this brand awareness and to create a bold and exciting new look for an integrated, unified company that is greater than the sum of its parts.”
The company’s legal name of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. remains unchanged.
