Since I commute from San Francisco to Silicon Valley everyday, I ventured into the world of Books on CDs (only for a short while though- ADD at its finest). During this brief phase, I picked up Deepak Chopra’s The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. In this audio version of his best selling book, Chopra explains that there are seven laws which we must follow in order to create affluence in our lives (both professionally and personally). Based off of these useful suggestions, I’ve put together and figured out ways in which we can use them to enhance our affiliate partner relations. Please note that the bold text is Chopra’s laws verbatim. My affiliate partner marketing translation is below.
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Affiliate Partner Marketing Success
Law of Karma: Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind…what we sow is what we reap. And when we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our karma is happiness and success.
Partner Marketing Point: Evaluate consequences. Be honest and take the higher road. In one instance, I was shocked to discover that a pretty well known affiliate partner was sending out email offers with our customer service information– so that if consumers complained, we would be on the receiving end, not to mention, our reputation would be at stake. Shady. Is this the way you would like to conduct your business and partner relationships? Just remember, what goes around comes around.
Think Boy George: Karma Chameleon.
Law of Least Effort: Nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease…with carefreeness and harmony. And when we harness the forces of harmony, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease.
Partner Marketing Point: Practice acceptance – accept people and situations as they are- – know that this moment is as it is supposed to be. Instead of trying to persuade partners on running this offer or that offer, know that sometimes the timing for them isn’t right. And trust me, it’s all about timing.
Law of Giving and Receiving: The universe operates through dynamic exchange…giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. And in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.
Partner Marketing Point: Give something to your partners- not necessarily money, gifts, but non-business related conversation. Build a rapport. Make a commitment to call/AIM your partners on a daily/weekly basis.
Pure Potentiality: Practice Silent Meditation – 15 minutes in morning & night, ideally 30mins dawn & dusk. Commune With Nature – appreciate the beauty.
Partner Marketing Point: Enough said.
Law of Intention and Desire: Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment. When we introduce and realize its potential, we put this organizing power to work for us.
Partner Marketing Point: List your desires. What kind of affiliate marketing organization do you want to have within the next 6-12 months? Do you have a target list of top 10 partners you want to grow relationships with? What is your end goal while working in the affiliate space (okay, aside from cash)?
Law of Detachment: In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty…in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning.
Partner Marketing Point: Commit to Detached Involvement – let go of past mistakes or bad partner relationships. So look for ways in which to improve the situation moving forward.
Law of Dharma: Everyone has a purpose in life…a unique or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.
Partner Marketing Point: Serve your partners. Ask your partners how can I help you generate more cash and give you the best offers for your particular business. Rather than ask what’s in it for me – share more, take a different approach- instead of thinking of your commission structure- think about how you can be a value add in your partner’s business.
