HSN, Shop at Home Network Have Strong Decembers

Both Nashville, TN-based Shop At Home Inc., and The Home Shopping Network had strong December, 1998 sales levels.

Shop At Home Network shipped $19.3 million in merchandise for the month ending Dec. 31, 1988, a 58% increase over $12.2 million in Dec. 1997. Internet sales for the company were up 134%.

Home Shopping Network claimed its largest month ever, with December sales topping $160 million, a “double digit” increase from last December’s level, said the company in a statement.

Consumers helped Home Shopping Network reach its record sales level by purchasing [among other items] 100,000 Barbie dolls, $4.3 million in computers, 15,000 telescopes, and 550,000 Beanie Babies.
