Hershey Taps Kraft Veteran Michele Buck

Hershey Foods Corp. has named Kraft veteran Michele Buck as president of its new U.S. Snacks Group.

Buck had been senior VP-general manager of Kraft’s confections division, overseeing LifeSavers, Altoids Crèmesavers and Toblerone. She previously served as VP-marketing for confections, and for the Planters snack nuts division.

Buck joins Hershey, PA-based Hershey this month. She will report to president-CEO Rick Lenny, himself a Kraft alumnus.

Hershey formed the U.S. Confectionery business group and a U.S. Snacks business group in February to strengthen its lead in candy and expand further into the $65 billion snacks category with items like its recently launched SnackBarz, Hershey’s Smart Zone nutrition bars, and a four-item line of upscale cookies. Hershey expects sales will grow 6% to 7% this year on record sales of $4.43 billion for 2004, up 6%.
