May was another good month for Google in terms of its share of the search market. According to the latest figures released by comScore’s monthly qSearch analysis, Google owned 50.7% of the total search market in May, reflecting a 1.0% increase from April’s 49.7%.
This increased the chasm between number one and number two Yahoo!, which experienced a 0.4% decrease in its share of May search queries, dipping to 26.4% from April’s 26.8%.
Microsoft Sites’ share remained unchanged from April, holding at 10.3% of all queries in May.
Ask Network lost 0.1%, dropping to 5.0% in May compared to 5.1% in April.
Time Warner Network slumped 0.4%, dropping to 4.6% of all queries in May, compared to 5.0% in April.
U.S. Web users conducted 7.6 billion queries in May, which reflected a 4% increase compared to April and a rather large 11% increase from May 2006.
Google led the way by handling 3.9 billion queries, while Yahoo! (2.0 billion), Microsoft Sites (782 million), Ask Network (384 million), and Time Warner Network (348 million) trailed behind.
