Essay Contest Kicks Off Harry Potter Campaign

Harry Potter mania is about to ignite once again as Scholastic rolls out a multi-million dollar campaign this month in advance of the summer release of the fifth book in the Harry Potter series.

The campaign kicks off with an essay contest that asks participants to write 300 words answering the question, “If you could have one special power taught at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?” Ten winners win a all-expense-paid trip for two to London to hear author J.K. Rowling read from the new book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and answer questions.

The full campaign launches May 21, one month before the book goes on sale June 21.

The contest is handled in-house.
