DMA Shakes Up Its Executive Staff

(Direct Newsline)—John A. Greco, Jr., new CEO of the Direct Marketing Association, today announced his much-anticipated executive shake-up.

Among the winners was DMA veteran Patricia Kachura, named as senior VP-ethics & consumer affairs. Another was Ken Ebeling, the new VP-membership development.

The non-winners include three departing executives who positions were eliminated, sources said:

  • Chris Gallagher, senior VP-conferences.
    • Mike Faulker, senior VP-segments and affiliates.
      • Dave Smith, senior VP-marketing and business development.
    • In another change, the DMA named Stephen Michaele VP-IT and chief information officer. He will have oversight for the DMA’S Web site (The-dma.org) and the group’s addition the database, membership information systems, technology, and communications functions.

These changes were part “a regrouping and reassignment of a number of divisions of the DMA, bringing them more in sync with our goal of delivering maximum value our members and the industry, said Greco in a statement. They resulted from an operational review of the association.

Some key positions remain to be filled. One is the job of supervising conferences, seminars and other educational programs. These functions will be overseen in the short term by Anne Schaeffer, senior VP-professional development and training and councils.

Another vacant job is that of a senior executive to oversee all membership functions, including DMA membership, Chapters, Councils, Association for Interactive Marketing (AIM), The Nonprofit Federation, and B-to-B. Ebeling will eventually report to that person.

Some changes were also made in the reporting structure. The Internet Alliance will now report to Jerry Cerasale, senior VP-government affairs.

“This move will allow a fuller integration of the great work IA does at the state level with that of our highly respected team in Washington, DC,” Greco said.

In addition, Strategic Information, Library and Research will report to Marcel Schloss, senior VP and CFO. Marketing and International Business Development and Government Affairs will report directly to Greco.

Commenting on the Kachura appointment, Greco said: “Pat’s promotion reflects the importance of our increasing efforts to establish a more positive industry brand in the consumer, regulatory, and legislative communities.”

In changes announced internally last week, the DMA promoted Louis Mastria to VP-communications and Robyn Brown, manager, office of the president.
