Disney To Buy Infoseek To Launch Go

The Walt Disney Co. will buy the 57% of Infoseek Corp. it doesn’t own to create a new Internet business to be called go.com. Go.com will be a combination of Disney’s Internet holdings: The Disney Store, ESPN.com, ABCNews.com, and Infoseek’s e-mail and search engine.

The new company is expected to have approximately $350 million in revenue and will be publicly traded.

Infoseek’s current president and CEO Harry Motro plans to stay through the deal’s closing as well as the following transition period.
