A German magazine has reported that Germany’s state-owned postal service, Deutsche Post AG, may have given illegal rebates to large customers including catalogers.
According to a wire report, the magazine, Wirtschaftswoche, cited the service’s contract to deliver catalogs for the German company Quelle, which mails at least 85% of its catalogs by Deutsche Post.
The European Commission is investigating whether Deutsche Post abused its monopoly position as a letter carrier to subsidize its package carrying business.
