(Catalog Age) Lester “Dusty” Loo, who built his family’s small greeting-card business into the successful Current catalog operation, died on Christmas of complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 64.
Loo’s mother, Miriam, launched Current in her family’s Colorado Springs, CO, home in 1950. Dusty and his brother, Gary, took the company over in 1961 and turned it into a catalog powerhouse, selling cards, gift wrap, stationery, and gifts. In 1986, the Loos sold Current for $115 million.
