Coupons Inc., a provider of consumer-printed coupon marketing and technology solutions, has won an injunction against counterfeiting of its coupons in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Coupons Inc. won the permanent injunction and final judgment against Anthony “Tony” Leland, Andrea Heintzelman, and Midwest Wholesale based on claims under federal and state laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which addresses copyright protection of materials in digital form.
“Although counterfeiting is rare, this gives us another tool to go directly after counterfeiters, permanently shut them down, and seek damages, ” said Steven R. Boal, Coupons Inc. CEO in a statement.
Coupons Inc. clients include ConAgra Foods, Johnson & Johnson, General Mills, Kimberly-Clark, Masterfoods, Dial Corp., Pfizer, Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, Valassis, and News Corporation’s News America Marketing.
