The Aug. 12 edition of “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” will be an hour-long infomercial parody to hawk the DVD debuts of the show’s tenth anniversary special and a collection of Triumph, the Late Night Insult Comic Dog skits.
TV Guide reports that while the NBC show will send up the format, the 800 number on screen will be real and viewers will be able to call in to purchase the $19.98 DVDs.
This isn’t O’Brien’s first foray into the infomercial world. He reportedly acted in corporate infomercials early in his career to help pay the bills, and played an infomercial audience member during his days as a “Saturday Night Live” writer.
