(Catalog Age)– Coldwater Creek has laid off another 25 workers at its headquarters due to job consolidations.
“These actions along with other improvements in our cost structure, are prudent and sensible given the uncertain business climate for the retail sector,” CEO Dennis Pence said in the Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
The Sandpoint, ID-based Coldwater Creek had several previous rounds of layoffs.
In January, 20 salaried employees were dismissed from positions at its headquarters, along with 80 members of its national retail store staff. Another 120 employees lost jobs earlier this year when the company closed its Sandpoint distribution center and consolidated all fulfillment activities at its Parkersburgh, WV, facility.
Second-quarter sales at the cataloger and retailer were flat at $92.8 million and the company posted a net loss of $700,000 for the same three months ended Aug. 31. In comparison, it had reported net income of $1.3 million for the same period last year. The company blamed the loss on the costs of its continuing retail expansion.
