Church & Dwight Buys Orange Glo for $325 Million

Church & Dwight Co. will buy Orange Glo International for $325 million in cash, adding two growing household-products brand to its portfolio led by Arm & Hammer.

Denver-based Orange Glo markets OxiClean laundry detergent, as well as its flagship Orange Glo wood polish and hardwood floor cleaners. Its sales hit $200 million for the fiscal year ended Jan. 1, 2006. Church & Dwight’s sales for the year were $1.7 billion, including $450 million in laundry and household cleaning products.

OxiClean gives Princeton, NJ-based Church & Dwight a quick footprint in the $1 billion laundry-additives segment, where OxiClean is the No. 2 brand.

“OxiClean is a great complement to our Arm & Hammer and Xtra [detergent] brands and provides access to one of the fastest growing parts of the laundry category—additives,” said Church & Dwight President-CEO Jim Craigie in a statement. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
