Catalyst Investors, a private equity fund, has acquired Aplus.Net, a Web services firm that operates under the brand names Aplus.Net and Cedant. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Aplus.Net, San Diego, provides a variety of Web site presence solutions including domain registration services, Web hosting, dedicated server hosting, Web design and Web marketing services to approximately 90,000 small- and medium-sized businesses. Web hosting industry veteran Gabriel Murphy will co-invest alongside Catalyst Investors, be appointed to the board of directors and serve as CEO.
Founders Ivan and Lilian Vachovsky will retain an ownership stake. Ivan Vachovsky will continue to serve on the board of directors, but he has resigned from the CEO position.
Aplus.Net has more than 300 employees with operations in San Diego and Sacramento, Phoenix, Sofia, Bulgaria and Manila, Philippines.
