The Calgary Herald reported that Canada Post has begun an investigation of Bud Buddy, a Vancouver, British Columbia based business that advertises itself as “Canada’s premier mail order marijuana delivery service” on the Internet.
Canada Post is reportedly investigating how its services may have been used for distributing marijuana, rather than whether the business is illegal, which it’s leaving up to the provincial government to determine.
The Web site Budbuddy.biz offers “discreet service and high quality marijuana products” and includes an online link to an order form. Customers are requested to pay for orders with cash wrapped inside a few sheets of paper or money orders with the “pay to” area left blank, plus a $10 shipping fee.
A post box address is provided to submit orders. Bud Buddy says it only accepts orders for delivery to Canadian addresses. It says shipments will be packed inside vacuum sealing to eliminate smell, with an insert included specifying the type of pot that was shipped, such as Godbud.
The Web site advises customers to submit orders through Canada Post, but not Federal Express, United Parcel Service or any other courier service. It also requests that orders not be sent via registered mail “or anything we’d have to sign for.” A disclaimer reads: “We’re not responsible if your money doesn’t make it.”
