Miami, FL-based Burger King Corp. announced the appointment of Dr. Joanne Lichten, Ph.D, RD, to the post of chief nutritionist last week. Dr. Lichten will be responsible for bringing a consumer-driven, nutritional sensibility to the current Burger King menu, as well as future product innovations. She will report to Glad Markunas, senior VP-consumer insights and strategic branding.
In addition to overseeing the nutritional profile of every Burger King product, Dr. Lichten will bring “clarity, accuracy and nutritional guidance to the research and development stages of products while offering consumers dietary options for balanced lifestyles, personal responsibility and choice,” according to a company release. Most recently, Dr. Lichten served as president of Houston-based Nutrifit Consulting, which provides nutrition and wellness seminars for large companies and associations in the technology, hospitality, food and professional services industries.
