Bluefly Inc., an online apparel outlet, saw its net loss jump from $1.5 million to $2.1 million during the second quarter of 2003. The New York-based company’s sales grew from $6.8 million to $7.5 million during the same period. The quarter ended June 30.
During the same period, Bluefly increased the number of new customers acquired from 21,057 to 22,581, and cut its new customer acquisition costs to $15.16 from $16.92. Revenue from repeat customers slipped from 70% of total sales to 68% of total sales.
