Barnes & Noble Inc., New York, has purchased a 49% stake in Web vanity publisher iUniverse.com, the bookseller’s first venture into book publishing
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Closely held Campbell, CA-based iUniverse uses print-on-demand technology to publish paperback books for new and out-of-print authors, which are sold through retail or online booksellers.
The transaction means its books will be available and displayed through barnesandnoble.com and in Barnes & Noble stores.
