Dow Jones & Co. reported an increase in second-quarter profits over the same period last year in part as a result of ad-revenue gains in print and online.
The parent of the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Dow Jones Newswires and MarketWatch reported that net income rose to $28.8 million, up from $861,000 last year.
Its consumer media unit saw an 8.9% revenue increase in the second quarter of 2006 over the same period a year ago fueled by a 10.3% increase in ad revenue and a 5.9% gain in circulation and other revenue.
