7 Up Plus to Debut; Creates New Carbonated Category

Dr Pepper/Seven Up is set to introduce a low-calorie, vitamin fortified carbonated drink that creates a new category for carbonated beverages, the company said.

7Up Plus is a low-calorie version of 7Up that will be fortified with vitamin C, calcium, real fruit juice and sweetened with Splenda, the company said yesterday.

The drink is the first fortified carbonated beverage from a major brand, Dr Pepper/7Up said.

The company is finalizing marketing and distribution plans for the product launch.

Rivals Pepsi-Cola North America and the Coca-Cola Co. both have launched lower calorie, lower carb colas. Coke’s C2 is on shelves. Pepsi’s Pepsi Edge is set to hit shelves mid-June.
