Puffs Plus, soft tissues with a touch of Shea butter, wanted to drive mothers of young children to Walmart during the cough and cold season. The tissue maker created the Puffs Plus Promotion pack exclusively available through Walmart. A prominent display was created to feature the packs, which included a CD video game and on-screen coloring book.
The video featured Puffs characters, including a new one created specifically for this promotion, who also served as the hero of the video game. Walmart elements were also incorporated into the video, such as a special Walmart truck that saves the day and brings soothing relief to children. The video included games that tested children’s skills on a variety of levels. Walmart banner ads and brand pages were employed to generate awareness.
The on-pack promotion resulted in a 15% increase in Puffs sales, the biggest in the history of the brand. Walmart also reported having the best cough and cold season in their history.
