Office Depot reported a $47.9 million loss during the third quarter, stemming from the shuttering of the Viking Office Products catalog and the elimination of 16 stores.
The Delray Beach, FL-based company reported sales of $3.5 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 24, up 5% from $3.3 billion last year.
The office products marketer reported business services sales division sales, part of which come from catalogs, rose 5% in the quarter. The firm attributed this to increased sales in the contract channel.
