General Mills feeds a hometown crowd on Wednesday, serving Progresso Soup to volunteers building the St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace.
The Progresso Drum and Kettle Corp., led by conductor Doc Severinsen, will perform and serve Progresso Rich & Hearty soup to volunteers building the four-story Ice Palace. The event is tied to National Soup Month and helps Minneapolis-based General Mills boost awareness for the Progresso flanker line.
General Mills also will donate 500 pounds of Progresso Soup to Second Harvest Heartland to mark National Soup Month.
The musicians will wear white chef hats and play Soup Samba, commissioned for the event. The Ice Palace is open Jan. 22 through Feb. 7 as part of St. Paul’s annual carnival; Pepsi-Cola Co. sponsors the Palace’s light and sound shows. The last Ice Palace was built in 1992.
