Pokémon USA is readying a new event to celebrate its 10-year anniversary next month at the Space Center Houston.
Starting March 10 through May 14, the Space Center Houston will celebrate the brand’s milestone with a 10-week celebration. During the Pokémon Tenth Anniversary Celebration, consumers can see Pokémon movies on Space Center Houston’s giant screen theater, attend video game demonstrations and receive free giveaways.
In addition, consumers can also download special game characters, including Deoxys and other favorites onto Nintendo Game Boy Advance systems at the event. Consumers who visit Space Center Houston will receive a limited edition Pokémon 10th anniversary trading card.
To help support the event, 1.5 million Pepsi and Diet Pepsi cans will include information about the Pokémon anniversary and Space Center Houston event, Bruce Loeb, VP-marketing, Pokémon USA, said. Loeb released specific details about the event at the American International Toy Fair at the Javits Center in New York this week. The Toy Fair ended yesterday.
Pokémon teamed up with Space Center Houston to target families and Pokémon fans alike.
“People are realizing Pokémon is a global event,” Loeb said. “It’s a great fit.”
The Pokémon Tenth Anniversary Celebration takes place during Spring Break—March 10-19—and weekends through May 14. Direct mail pieces will support.
As part of the promotion, consumers can purchase Pokémon kid’s passes for $10, which will give kids unlimited access to the event. Passes can be purchased at SpaceCenter.org
Pokémon is kicking off the first of a series of events tied to its 10th anniversary this month with a national mall tour (Xtra, Feb 14).
