Just seven weeks after J. Peterman Co. filed for bankruptcy and its assets were sold, the catalog is making money, according to its new owner, Paul Harris Stores Inc.
The catalog has contributed $259,000 to the retail chain’s profits, Paul Harris said. Charlotte G. Fischer, the parent company’s president, suggested the turnaround came about because of stricter financial controls.
Paul Harris, based in Indianapolis, plans to reopen the Peterman e-commerce Web site (http://www.jpeterman.com) in a few days as well as to revive Peterman’s dream to have J. Peterman stores as a national chain.
