Missouri Shuts Down Travel Marketer

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has obtained a court order that prohibits Star Reservations LLC from advertising or otherwise offering to sell vacation travel packages, vacation club memberships, hotel lodgings or timeshare real estate.

Star Reservations has been barred from doing business in Missouri, either with state residents or in other states. The company has been ordered to pay $70,653 in restitution to 170 consumers. In addition, it has been ordered to pay up to $5,000 per violation for any future violations of the terms and conditions of this injunction and final judgment.

In a lawsuit, Nixon alleged that the company misrepresented advertising and other information to consumers. These misrepresentations included telling consumers they would have seven days after making a purchase to cancel vacation packages and receive refunds, which according to Nixon was not true. Green County (MO) County Circuit Judge Don Burrell signed the court order obtained by Nixon on Dec. 13.
