It looks like television advertising will become more interactive with Internet technology. Google and NBC Universal have formed an advertising, research and technology partnership. The companies will share ad revenues.
These new and old media companies have agreed to work together to attract non-traditional advertising to NBC, which incorporate self-service purchasing technology from Google.
In the coming months, TV commercials from NBC Universal’s Sci Fi, Oxygen, MSNBC, CNBC, Sleuth and Chiller cable TV networks will be made available to Google.
“We’re extremely pleased to join forces with Google on this effort, which will help us deliver better accountability and ROI metrics to our advertisers and attract an entirely new group of clients to television advertising,” said in statement Mike Pilot, president of NBC Universal sales and marketing.
The partnership will provide NBC Universal with access to additional viewer data, besides opportunities to test new technology.
