EMI, Time-Warner Offer Skeptical EU Concessions

Music business conglomerate EMI Group Plc. and Time Warner’s music arm have informally offered concessions in a last-ditch bid to win European Union approval for their planned $20 million joint venture, according to Reuters.

The Commission has already drafted a decision to block the deal unless substantial concessions are offered, over fears that the combined company would control the market for downloading music from the Internet–especially in face of Time Warner’s planned merger with America Online.

Peoplefirst.com Acquires Giggo.com for $20 Million PeopleFirst.com, a San Diego-based online auto loan provider has acquired competing site giggo.com from DaimlerChrysler for $20 million in stock and cash.

As part of the transaction, the existing PeopleFirst.com board of directors will expand to include three members from DaimlerChrysler, bringing the total board membership to 12 directors.
