Dean Foods Co. has named Joseph Scalzo, currently a member of The Gillette Co.’s senior management team, as president and CEO of WhiteWave Foods, a unit that manufactures premium branded food products.
He is expected to take the post following Procter & Gamble’s pending $57 billion acquisition of Gillette by October.
Scalzo replaced Steve Demos, who left the organization in March to pursue other interests.
At Gillette, Scalzo is the group president, personal care and global value chain. He is credited with spearheading the successful, three-year turnaround of the company’s 1 billion global personal care business. Prior to that, he was senior VP-CMO of The Minute Maid Co., a Coca-Cola company.
Scalzo will report to Dean Foods’ Chairman and CEO, Gregg Engles.

WhiteWave Foods product line includes Silk Soymilk, Horizon Organic milk and dairy products, International Delight coffee creamer, Land O’ Lakes dairy.
