Calling All Teens

AT&T is pushing a wacky Feel Good Shopping Spree campaign starring actor David Arquette to boost usage of its 1-800-Call-ATT collect calling brand. The month-long promo will award $3,000 to one winner every day for shopping trips anywhere, anytime.

The sweeps, created by Momentum-IMC, New York City, targets 16- to 24-year olds. TV spots via Foote, Cone, Belding broke recently with Arquette, star of Scream movies. Earlier this fall, Arquette acted as chief pitchman for AT&T’s Get Ready to Rock sweeps.

The focus of the promo is on what the company calls “the young, hip and typically demographically dependent” and ties in with the brand’s pledge of uniform pricing on calls 24 hours a day, “anywhere, anytime.” With each collect call made via 1-900-Call-ATT, the caller is automatically entered in the sweeps with a chance to win the shopping cash with each call.

AT&T has also kicked off a prepaid card holiday promo to run to the end of the year. The promo is taking place at 5,000 7-Eleven stores, 5,000 Barnes & Noble campus locations, Samsonite and AT&T stores, participating Red Roof Inns, and online. It offers purchasers of 60-minute or higher denomination cards a free 10-minute card in-pack. All cards bear holiday motifs.
