In its first major concert tour sponsorship, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has signed on as title sponsor of American Idol singing sensation Clay Aiken’s summer tour.
Buena Vista hopes to raise awareness for the special edition DVD release of Disney’s Aladdin, featuring the song Proud of Your Boy, sung by Aiken. The song was intended for the original film, but was cut when the story line changed. Aiken’s rendition will be featured only on the film’s special edition DVD debut this October.
Each of Aiken’s 50 tour dates (July 8-Oct. 18) will open with a video montage featuring bits of his rendition of the song. The clip will also mention the DVD release.
To promote the tour, Buena Vista will participate in a variety of activities in key markets. Special offers include an exclusive sneak preview of the Proud of Your Boy music video and cross-promotional Web site activities on both www.aladdindvd.com and www.clayaiken.com.
Additionally, Buena Vista’s charity arm, Disney Hand, will make a donation to Aiken’s Bubel/Aiken Foundation, which provides services and financial assistance to disabled children. Newspaper, TV ads, signs and fliers support.
