1-800 Contacts, an online and inbound telemarketing corrective lens marketer, had net sales of $42.8 million in the first quarter of 2001, up 36% from $31.4 million in first-quarter 2000. The company’s net income increased from $1.8 million to $2.3 million during the same period. The quarter ended March 31.
Internet sales grew to $16.3 million, or 38% of the company’s total sales, up from $9.2 million, or 29% of its sales, during the same period a year ago. Repeat customers made up 66% of total sales, up 54% from last year’s level.
