Taco Bell Taps Ovens from Yum as CMO

Taco Bell has named David Ovens as its new chief marketing officer. The post takes effect Aug. 7

Ovens replaces Bill Pearce, who left the company to launch a start-up venture in medical technology. Bob Fulmer, Taco Bell’s vice president of field marketing, will handle chief marketing officer duties in the interim, the company said.

Ovens currently works as chief marketing officer for Yum Restaurant International’s South Pacific business, which includes Australia and New Zealand. Yum Restaurant International is a sister company to Taco Bell under Parent Yum Brands Inc. Since joining the organization in 2001, he led the team in charge of producing over half the worldwide KFC product innovations during the past few years.

Prior to Yum, Ovens handled a number of marketing initiatives for top companies including Unilever, Kimberly Clark and Johnson & Johnson. Taco Bell Corp. operates nearly 5,600 restaurants in the U.S.
