Land O Lakes to End Rewards Program

Land O Lakes is ending its Real Rewards program after less than a year.

The company said it plans to shift gears after launching the test program, which offers prizes based on purchases of Land O Lakes products. The program, which launched last July, runs through mid June.

“We found that this particular program did not fit out needs,” company spokesperson Brian Delgado said.

Members buy one of more than 25 different Land O Lakes butter, margarine or spread products and collect UPC codes from the packaging. Each item carries a specific number of reward points. People then mail in a submission form with the UPC codes for their chosen awards.

Participating products each carry between 10 to 40 rewards points. They include Land O Lakes four-count stick butter, a 16-ounce tub of Land O Lakes margarine and a 16-ounce tub of Land O Lakes Country Morning Blend

Awards include everything from a one-year subscription to Everyday Food magazine for 350 points, to Land O Lake coupons for 400 points and Fandango movie tickets for four for 450 points. Members have until June 15 to earn points. Fulfillment will run through August, Delgado said.

SoftCoin, Inc. manages the program.

Meanwhile, Land O Lakes is continuing its online Simple Rewards program. Members can subscribe to an online newsletter, download coupons and find recipes using the company’s products. The program is free to join at http://www.landolakes.com.
