Kodak Launches King Kong Smiles Sweeps

Eastman Kodak Co. is giving consumers something to smile about under a new sweepstakes tied to the release of King Kong on DVD, which will award one grand-prize winner a luxury trip to New York.

Consumers can enter the King-Sized Smiles sweepstakes by uploading photos at the Kodak EasyShare gallery at KodakGallery.com/KingKong or e-mailing photos from their camera phone to [email protected] showing their greatest smiles. Each submission should include a short paragraph describing why the photo has a Kong-sized smile. Entrants can send up to 20 photos during the promotion.

One grand-prize winner gets a four-day trip to New York, including first-class airfare, private limousine rides, luxury accommodations at the Waldorf-Astoria, a helicopter tour of Manhattan and a choice of Broadway tickets. Lesser prizes include a Sony PlayStation 2 console with the King Kong video game, the two-disc King Kong: Peter Jackson’s Production Diaries DVD collections, Kodak mini photo books and King Kong theatrical posters.

Consumers who enter the sweepstakes will receive King Kong wallpaper for their phones.

The sweepstakes ties to Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s King Kong on DVD, which hits stores today. The goal behind the promotion is to acquire new customers for the Kodak EasyShare Gallery and to promote Kodak Mobile, a service that allows consumers to upload their cell phone pictures and turn them into prints via the Kodak Gallery, said Nicole Rose, management supervisor at Eric Mower and Associates, Atlantathe agency handling the promotion.

“We wanted to do something that related to the theme of King Kong and make sure everyone could participate,” Rose said.

Print ads in Entertainment Weekly, People and Rolling Stone and online materials support. Pleasant Ridge, MI-based ePrize handles sweepstakes administration.
