Computer direct marketer Insight Enterprises Inc., Tempe, AZ, has acquired U.K.-based DMer Action Computer Supplies Holdings plc for about $150 million.
Action will continue to operate as its own entity for a while but later this year will adopt the Insight brand, spokeswoman Valerie Paxton told DIRECT Newsline.
“This [acquisition] will give Insight a platform to market to the rest of Europe,” Paxton continued, noting that Action already has a working European operation.
Insight will bring its Internet and outbound selling models to Action, which markets primarily through its catalog. In addition, Insight hopes to bring its economies of scale–hence lower prices–to Action’s current customers, Paxton added.
All Action personnel will reportedly stay in place under the managing director George La Plante. No layoffs are expected.
