Holland America Launches Loyalty Program

Cruise firm Holland America Line has rolling out the Mariner Society Rewards Program, a new loyalty scheme.

The program has pre-enrolled anybody who has sailed at least once with Holland America. Benefits include online discounts and discounts on select cruises.

The Mariner Society Rewards Program offers four membership levels, with tiers based on the number of cruise days enrollees earn. Guests collect additional or cruise day credits based on their onboard spending, or through booking premium accommodations. Amenities earned as guests rise through the levels are cumulative.

The four membership levels are:

Star Mariner
This initial level offerspremium pricing for select trips; a 50% discount for third and fourth guests on select sailings; a welcome back brunch on subsequent cruises, a subscription to the Mariner Magazine; and a Mariner champagne brunch on subsequent cruises.

Two-Star Mariner

After guests earn 30 cruise day credits, they receive Star Mariner amenities plus shopping discounts, including a 15% discount on merchandise purchased from ShopHollandAmerica.com and 10% off logo apparel items onboard in the gift shops. Two-Star Mariners also receive a complimentary ship photo and will be sent an exclusive annual cruise planner and a special recognition pin.

Three-Star Mariner

Guests who earn 75 cruise days are given all Two-Star amenities plus 10% off elect spa treatments; a 25% discount on all wine packages, mini-bar purchases, Explorations Cafe drinks and alternative restaurant surcharges; special advanced notice of new itineraries; and a waiver of air deviation fees.

Four-Star Mariner

This top tier requires 200 cruise days. Earners enjoy the benefits of all levels below; free fare for third and fourth guests on select sailings; complimentary wine tasting and laundry/pressing; a 50% discount on all wine packages, mini-bar purchases, Explorations Cafe drinks and alternative restaurant surcharges; a 15% discount on logo apparel items onboard in the gift shops; priority tender service and check-in; priority shore excursion pre-booking; and a free subscription to Food and Wine magazine or Travel and Leisure magazine.

The new Mariner Society Rewards Program will roll out to the entire fleet by Oct. 18.
